Anton Renk hut

Hut hike

Route description

Take the gondola lift from Ried to Fendels (1,352 m). Then we "change" to the chairlift. From the Sattele (1,870 m) we hike partly through sparse forest to the Fendler Alm (1,970 m). A path continues over beautiful alpine rose slopes to the Zirmesköpfle (2,092 m) and the Anton-Renk-Hütte (2,260 m) - unfortunately, the hut is not open. A few meters from the hut is the impressive "Fallende Bach" waterfall, which reaches a height of around 170 meters. Some folk legends about the "Falling Brook Putz" (Putz = ghost) refer to it.

Special features

The Anton-Renk-Hütte is nestled in the Glockturmkamm (Ötztal Alps) at 2,261 meters above sea level in the municipality of Ried im Oberinntal. The hut is surrounded by the imposing mountain peaks of Karlsspitze, Alter Mann, Pfroslkopf, Zirmesspitze and Kuppkarlesspitze. The hut is located on the Aachener Höhenweg trail, which leads via the Riefenkarscharte, the Fissladtal, the Kreuzjoch and the Nasserein Alm to the Gepatschhaus in the Kaunertal. The hut was built in 1926 by the Austrian Mountain Club. It was bought by the Aachen section in 1939. After the Second World War, the hut, like all other German AV huts, was confiscated and returned to its owners in 1956.
