Kaunergrat
The cab takes us to the "Wiesejaggl" - the starting point of our hike at 1,421 m. We walk past the "Schnadigen Weiher" pond to the Aifneralm (1,980 m) in approx. 1 ½ hours. The Aifneralm is still within the subalpine forest zone on the south-western slope of the Aifner Spitze.
Perhaps a mighty golden eagle, a raven or a flock of alpine choughs are flying past, and with a bit of luck and a pair of binoculars, you can watch chamois or even ibex climbing in the rocks above. From the Aifneralm we ascend via the Kleine Aifner Spitze 2,558m to the Hohe Aifner Spitze 2,779m. Now we have earned a hearty snack.
The way back takes us to the Wiesejaggl, where the cab picks us up again.
From the small cross, which is located on a large stone base, you have a wonderful view into the Kaunertal valley and across the Inn valley as far as Switzerland.
Let your gaze wander as far as the white giants - the Weißseespitze and Gepatschferner.
