Hike to the Ascherhütte

Hut hike.Panoramic hike

Route description

We take the gondola lift to the Fisser Joch (2,436 m). The trail leads us over flat grassy slopes and boulder fields into the Urgtal valley floor. To the Spinnseen lakes, the trail climbs slightly along the stream via Steinkare (Gemsrevier) to a ridge and shortly afterwards to the Oberer Spinnsee lake (2,450 m). From here, the trail winds its way up to the Spinnscharte (2,681 m) with magnificent views of the lakes and the Urgtal valley. We then follow the trail down into the wide valley floor to the serviced Ascherhütte (2,256 m). We continue to the mountain station of the See gondola lift, which takes us down into the valley.

Special features

The Asch hut is situated in a wonderful open location at 2,256 m above sea level. The town of Asch, an industrial town in the former German Sudetenland, provided the impetus for the general development of the Samnaun group. With the Ascherhütte, the Samnaun section, which had already been founded in 1878, made itself at home and built a path and footbridge. The founding of the hut was the first public reference to the high alpine and central main ridge section between Hexenkopf, Furgler and Rotpleiskopf.

Please check the operating times of the cable car in See/Paznauntal before starting the tour.
