Kaunertal
Travel by car from Fiss to Feichten in the Kaunertal. The hike up to the hut starts directly in Feichten (1,287m) and leads along the farm road to the unmanaged Verpeilalm. Then continue along the Verpeilbach stream to the Verpeilhütte (built in 1906) - an Alpine club hut belonging to the Frankfurt am Main section of the German Alpine Club. It is located in the Verpeil Valley, a high valley branching off from the Kaunertal, in the Kaunergrat in the Ötztal Alps. The hut is surrounded by trees and alpine roses and is framed by 2 streams. The Verpeilhütte is "protected" by a small chapel. The hut is only open in summer and offers refreshments. Enjoy the wonderful surroundings and the view of the imposing 3,000-metre peaks. After this lovely break, we hike back to the starting point in Feichten on the other side of the Verpeilbach stream.
The wildest and most beautiful peaks of the Kaunergrat are gathered around the Verpeil, above the Verpeilhütte. Schweikert, Gsallkopf, Rofelewand, Schwabenkopf, Verpeil- and Watzespitze stretch up there into the blue sky. An impressive scenery that is not only reserved for extreme mountaineers, as the Verpeilhütte is relatively easy to reach.
