Pfunds-Tyrolean
Drive from Pfunds to Radurschl as far as the Wildmoos parking lot.
An extremely beautiful high-altitude hike, particularly suitable for families, along the rushing stream to Raduschl No. 10. There are two ways to reach the Hohenzollernhaus. The first option leads left over the bridge to the Radurschl Alm, the so-called Sommersteig. The 2nd option leads to the right before the bridge, through the stone pine forest past the sculpture park, a place to relax for the whole family, into the material cable car and to the waterfall and then steeply up the so-called Wintersteig to the Hohenzollernhaus.
The Hohenzollernhaus, surrounded by the last Swiss stone pines and alpine roses, stands on the front moraine of the glacier stream that once reached this far. The peaks and ridges of the Glockturmkamm ridge are racy. We take a break here to enjoy the wonderful panorama.
From the Hohenzollernhaus in Pfunds, a short hike leads up to the emerald-green mountain lake, which was created by a mudslide in 2019.
The Radurschltal valley extends from Pfunds around 15 km to the south-east into the Ötztal Alps and flows into the Inntal valley via a gorge. Its special feature is an old cultural landscape characterized by extensive and small-scale farming. In the Radurschltal valley there is a closely interlinked alternation of mountain pastures, softwood meadows, flat and hillside spring moors and forest islands with a great diversity of species. All the transitions from montane to alpine habitats can be found in the upper reaches of the valley.
Most of the mountain slopes are forested, with spruce at lower altitudes and larch and Swiss stone pine higher up. The highest and largest closed Swiss stone pine forest in the Eastern Alps is located here, with an upper limit at 2,400 meters.
