Kaunertal
We form car pools and drive to Feichten in the Kaunertal and from there to the unmanaged Verpeilalm. We start our tour along the Verpeilbach stream to the Verpeilhütte (built in 1906) - an Alpine Club hut belonging to the Frankfurt am Main section of the German Alpine Club. It is located in the Verpeil Valley, a high valley branching off from the Kaunertal, in the Kaunergrat in the Ötztal Alps.
The hut is surrounded by trees and alpine roses and is framed by 2 streams. The Verpeilhütte is "protected" by a small chapel. From the Verpeilhütte, we turn south and cross the stream. The slope now climbs upwards between trees, alpine roses and heather bushes. Here we can already enjoy a magnificent view of the valley.
Now follows the ascent over a moraine ridge. The following steep slope is conquered in serpentines. We reach an almost flat area with a fork in the path. To the left is the Madatschkopf, to the right the Mooskopf. We follow the left-hand path towards the Madatschkopf. The path becomes steeper again and in serpentines you reach the summit via grassy slopes and boulders, where a wonderful panoramic view awaits the summiteers.
The Madatschkopf is a perfect panoramic peak in the middle of the Kaunergrat. Enjoy the wonderful surroundings and the view of the imposing 3,000-metre peaks.
