Tyrolean tradition
Tyrolean tradition
But the ringing of church bells is more than just a loud "Bimbam": bells tell stories. Behind their weighty bodies lie personal destinies, great emotions and the identity of an entire country. As early as the 12th century, bells in Tyrol warned of floods and fires. In some rural communities, the so-called "weather bells" are still used today to warn of impending storms.
Here in Fiss, when the bells ring at 7:00 am, 12:00 pm and 6:00 pm, this fortunately does not mean an approaching storm, but simply a pause in the midst of everyday life. Devout Catholics pray the Angelus at these times.
In other places, the bells traditionally ring at 6:00 a.m. - how good that we can sleep a little longer in Fiss.
We wish you a restful sleep!
