Baking Christmas cookies is a tradition for us - naturally also in a gluten-free version for allergy sufferers. If you fancy baking these little delicacies yourself, you can follow our recipe for the Chesa Monte stars and bring a piece of Tyrolean Advent into your home.
Ingredients for the wholegrain stars
250 g finely ground wholemeal spelt flour
100 g honey
125 g butter
50 g ground almonds
5 g cinnamon, 5 g nutmeg, 1 pinch of clove powder
1 teaspoon baking powder
Zest of one lemon
1 egg
Preparation
Pour the flour and baking powder onto the work surface and work in the butter cut into pieces. Then add the egg, honey, almonds, spices, salt and lemon zest and mix quickly to form a smooth dough. Wrap the dough in cling film and leave to rest in the fridge for 1 hour.
Preheat the oven to 170 °C top/bottom heat. Knead the dough again, roll out to a thickness of approx. 5 mm and cut out stars. Place on a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake for 10–15 minutes. After cooling, spread the cookies with raspberry jam and place two stars together. Finally, sprinkle with powdered sugar.
With these wholemeal stars, you not only bring a piece of Tyrolean tradition into your kitchen, but also a piece of Chesa Monte Christmas magic directly onto your plate. Perfect for cozy afternoons, family time or as a loving gift during the Advent season.
